WYSA - Fall Recreational League Rules

All specific WYSA playing rules are noted below, otherwise FIFA apply!!

 

Referee Calls: Respect the calls made by the referees! The referees are FIFA certified or in-training, and referee verbal abuse will not be tolerated! If a coach or parent has specific questions or concerns, please contact Joe Comforti for referees at the fields.

 

Game Start Times: start times are listed on schedules. If no referee is present, contact Joe Comforti or his designee for referee assignment.

 

GAMES WILL START ON TIME AS SCHEDULED!!!!

 

Game Duration:**

U-8: 4 – 10 minute quarters, running time kept by coaches

U-10: 4 – 10 minute quarters, running time kept by referee

U-12: 4 – 12 minute quarters, running time kept by referee

U-15: 4 – 15 minute quarters, running time kept by referee

1 minute break between quarters, 3 minute break at halftime

** injury time will NOT be added onto the game duration.

 

Substitutions:

U-8: On the Fly, by the team Coach or Assistant

All Other Ages:           Any Dead Ball, on own throw-in. NOT at corner kicks.

            The substitution must be recognized by the referee before occurring.

 

Putting Ball in Play:

1. Start of Game: Kickoff by First Listed Team on Schedule

2. Out of Play – Touch Lines:  U–8: Kick-in   All Other Ages: Throw-in

 

Penalties:

U-8: ALL are indirect kicks, where the penalty occurred, and taken NO CLOSER than 10 yards to the goal! Remember that this is for FUN!

U-10 and up Penalty Kicks: paced off by the referee, with all players 10 yards from the ball and outside of the penalty box.

 

Goals: Goals cannot be scored directly from a kick-off.

 

Goal Kicks and Keeper Kicks/Throws: The ball cannot be kicked or thrown over the midfield line by the keeper while in his/her possession. An indirect kick for the opposing team results.

 

Playing Time:

                        • Goalkeepers can play no more than half of the game in goal.

                        • All players must play at least 50% of the game.
